Speak Out Against Racism in Our City Departments
Tuesday, June 19 at 11:30 AM
San Francisco City Hall
Join SEIU 1021 members, allies, and community activists on Juneteeth to condemn racist and discriminatory practices in City departments. Workers across the City have spoken out about unfair treatment and unnecessary disciplines against their coworkers and the disproportionate targeting of
African American workers. They’ve spoken out about the lack of diversity in some departments, citing that certain ethnicities are hired for particular job types based on racial stereotypes. Others have seen the disproportionate number of African American workers threatened with separation from probation if they did not agree to extend their probation period. We’re demanding an end to these threats and unfair treatment.
Racism and discrimination have no place in our city. That’s why Supervisor Jane Kim has introduced a resolution, co-sponsored by Mayor-Elect London Breed and Supervisor Aaron Peskin, calling for a
hearing to get to the systemic issues leading to the unfair treatment of workers of color.
Show that you stand against injustice, hate, and ignorance and join us at this action.
