Title: Labor Breakfast: A Healthcare Agenda for Working People
Location: SEIU 1021 ~ 350 Rhode Island, SF
Link out: Click here
Description: For unions, healthcare continues to be the number one issue at the bargaining table. The ACA and healthcare reform poses additional challenges for unions fighting to protect current health benefits for members and resisting employer efforts to pass on premium increases. For Community: The ACA has meant access to insurance, but not always access to affordable care.
This briefing will keep unions and community allies updated on both national and statewide legislative actions and the campaigns to ensure all of our members and their families have access to quality, comprehensive care through an Improved Medicare for All/Single Payer system envisioned by the AFL-CIO.
Topics to be covered:
• How a Single Payer/Improved Medicare for All system would affect and help your members/union (including discussion of the impacts of Healthcare Reform/ACA)
• Updates on state, national and labor led campaigns
• Updates on statewide legislation and events to build towards Medicare for All.
